The company provided an Extension Management and Training Specialist and a senior Road Engineer supported by specialists in extension training and human resource management and audio-visual aids production, to form part of an on-going multinational team responsible for the development of the Morant and Yallahs river catchments areas. The project’s technical specialists strengthened the existing extension services provided by the Rural Agricultural Development Authority, by working through Farmers Associations and Area Development Committees. A training needs assessment of all RADA staff was completed and the development of pilot training programmes using materials produced by an in-house Desk Top Publishing and Video Film production unit was established, along with design specifications for the upgrading and re-alignment of 47 km of existing rural tracks, to all weather standards. The project team also carried out the preparation, award and supervision of local construction contracts and established of an on-going road maintenance programme.
