The overall
objective of the project is to provide a stimulus to sustainable economic
development in the regions of Samsun, Kastamonu and Erzurum. In order to achieve
this a team of EU and local experts provides TA to the Turkish beneficiaries,
i.e. the Turkish State Planning Organisation – DPT, the CFCU and the PIUs in the
regions, in the management of a 3 EU funded small-scale projects grant scheme.
The total budget for
the grant schemes of approximately € 49 million (including Turkish co-funding)
will indicatively be allocated equally to the three regions. The three grant
schemes are supporting:
--> Local development initiatives designed by communities in the target regions·
--> Rural SME development·
--> Small-scale infrastructure projects
The allocation within these three grant schemes will correspond indicatively to
20%, 30-% and 50% of the available budget respectively. In each of the three
regions a project office is established to closely cooperate with the regional
PIU of this NUTS II region in order to guarantee the smooth management of the
grant schemes.
Special emphasis in
the course of the TA project is placed on the transfer of know-how and provision
of training to the Turkish beneficiaries in the field of EU grant regulations
and of EU grants scheme implementation (esp. PRAG conditions).
To the same extent local stakeholders are supported in order to enable them to
prepare and submit viable project proposals and to successfully implement
small-scale projects under EU grant schemes. |
