Short project description |
The purpose of the contract is to develop a solid platform to underpin the strategy for the eradication of zoonotic diseases and undertake a nation-wide campaign to implement the appropriate measures conducive to the eradication of main zoonotic diseases in Albania such as brucellosis of small ruminants (the priority disease), brucellosis of cattle, tuberculosis of cattle, anthrax, rabies and classical swine fever. At the end of the project it is expected that the incidence of these diseases in the country is significantly reduced and the process of declaring disease-free (brucellosis and tuberculosis) areas have started. |

Qualifications and Skills Required |
· · University degree in veterinary or equivalent with a post graduate qualification in veterinary epidemiology. · Good knowledge on I&R and associated animal health databases, · Good knowledge of GIS and its application in animal epidemiology, · Good knowledge of biostatistics in animal health, · Good knowledge of laboratory diagnosis of target diseases of the proposed project, · Good oral and written presentation skills in English language. General professional experience: · Have preferably 10 years of professional experience in animal health or epidemiology but not less than 5 years. · Have preferably 5 years working in a national veterinary epidemiology unit in an EU country but not less than 3 years. Specific professional experience: · Have in the last ten years at least one direct experience in disease control/eradication campaign of the targeted zoonotic diseases in the project with preference to brucellosis of small ruminants, Have preferably 3 years experience in the design, implementation, monitoring, analysis and evaluation of epidemiological data, data quality assurance and operation of modern national veterinary surveillance systems including veterinary databases, statistical analysis systems and geographical information systems but not less than 1 year. |
