Short project description

 The purpose of the contract is to develop a solid platform to underpin the strategy for the eradication of zoonotic diseases and undertake a nation-wide campaign to implement the appropriate measures conducive to the eradication of main zoonotic diseases in Albania such as brucellosis of small ruminants (the priority disease), brucellosis of cattle, tuberculosis of cattle, anthrax, rabies and classical swine fever. At the end of the project it is expected that the incidence of these diseases in the country is significantly reduced and the process of declaring disease-free (brucellosis and tuberculosis) areas have started.

Qualifications and Skills Required

·       University degree in veterinary or equivalent with a relevant post-graduate qualification such as epidemiology, animal health economics or management.

·         Good knowledge of relevant EU veterinary provisions on animal health, surveillance and disease control/eradication programmes,

·         Good knowledge on I&R and associated animal health databases

·         Proven ability to lead a multidisciplinary team, and possessing good communication and training skills.

·         Excellent oral and written presentation skills in English language.

·         Fluent in written and spoken English.

General professional experience:

·         Have preferably 15 years professional experience in the field of animal health or epidemiology but not less than 10 years.

·         Have preferably 5 years professional experience in the veterinary services of an EU country but not less than 3 years.

Specific professional experience:

·         Have preferably 5 years experience in managing similar disease control / eradication campaigns as envisaged for the current project with preference to brucellosis of small ruminants but not less than 3 years

  • Have preferably in the past 10 years at least two experiences in the management of long term projects in the field of animal health or epidemiology but not less than one.
