Short   project description The purpose of this contract is to provide the necessary guidelines that will support the implementation of measures which are in compliance with the Nitrates Directive. A Consultant will be selected to assess the technical implementation capacity of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA); to designate nitrate vulnerable zones; to establish a reporting system, code or codes of good agricultural practice and surface and groundwater monitoring network; to prepare an action plan for the nitrates directive; to develop a capacity building program for MARA and awareness programs for farmers and public.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Team Leader / Senior Agri-Environment Expert – Long Term

 Qualifications and skills:

·         Graduate and/or higher level degree in agriculture, environment or related fields;

·         Fluent in English;

·         Proven Team Leadership experience;

·         Experience in carrying out organisational analyses; and drafting strategic documents for EU accession

General professional experience:

·         Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the agro environmental sector;

·         Minimum 5 years of proven experience in the management of international projects

·         EU Member state experience preferred

 Specific professional experience:

·         Minimum 5 years experience working on the implementation of the EU Environmental Directives;

·         Extensive knowledge of the European institutional environment related to the implementation and enforcement of EU legislation on water management issues (Environmental Acquis);

·         Minimum 5 years of experience on environmental policy projects;

·         EU Member state experience preferred
